Jensen Vintage Ceramic C12Q Fluid IR Library
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen Vintage Ceramic C12Q speaker, from the Vintage Series, installed in two different enclosures:
- a 1x12" Open Back cabinet
- a 2x12" Open Back cabinet
for a total of 1216 IRs, developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist, in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing an original speaker.

Following the heritage of the P12Q, its AlNiCo predecessor, the C12Q is one of the most versatile speakers in the Vintage range. Powerful enough for a cranked Deluxe-style amp, it delivers bite and presence in a compact 1x12 enclosure, white retaining balance and warmth. In the classic 2x12 open back format, delivers a pleasant, open, full bodied tone. Highly regarded for its seamless transition from clean to crunch tones, rich in harmonics, flavored with just a hint of musical compression. The vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. The maximum overdrive achievable back in those days was generated by the amplifier’s natural clipping and compression, and maybe by some of the earlier fuzz pedals. Those speakers were voiced for sparkly, shimmering treble response, with a remarkable amount of energy well over 6kHz, to be coupled with the warm sounding circuits, and the thin, resonant cabinets of the era.
The IRs of the Vintage Jensen Speakers behave exactly as expected, bright, clear and detailed.
In the modern world, especially with high gain tones, naturally very rich of harmonic overtones, all this energy in the treble range may sometimes turn in an overly bright, aggressive tone.
To further expand the possible applications of these historical speakers, we decided to offer all the Vintage Jensen IRs also in a “Remastered” option, where we finely tuned the top end response to be warmer and less prominent, so to make it suitable also in more contemporary, higher gain applications.
A sort of virtual “aged tone”, that offers a whole new range of sounds for every application. All the IRs in the library are effectively doubled by the “Remastered” version, opening up new possibilities to the player, once again “beyond the original hardware”.
Made for the supercabinet
The library is created for the TH-U Supercabinet, which allows to:
- graphically browse the IRs in the library
- blend them together
- craft new cabinet tones with the unique Multiband mode
- use the IR in the software
- export the IRs in .wav, compatible with the software IR loaders and all the major hardware modelers
FLUID IRs EXPLAINED
Fluid IRs are an advanced form of impulse responses that encapsulate more detailed sonic characteristics compared to traditional IRs. Unlike regular IRs that merely mimic a speaker's frequency response, Fluid IRs also reproduce the speaker's dynamic behavior and harmonics. This enhancement delivers a tone that is more robust, lifelike, and direct, with better management of the bass frequencies.
As of version 1.4.26, all cabinets in TH-U and all of the SuperCabinet libraries have been upgraded to include Fluid IRs, which are provided to users as a free update.
Additionally, users have the option to upload their own conventional IRs into TH-U, taking advantage of Overloud's proprietary Fluid IR technology. This technology utilizes an AI algorithm trained to transform your IRs by recreating their dynamic and harmonic responses.

Every microphone has been moved to 4 different horizontal position (Cap, Cap Edge, Cone and Cone Edge), two distances and two angles, for a total of 16 IRs each.
All the measurement set has been repeated for each one of the cabinet in the library.
All IRs have been phase aligned and they can be blended without phase cancellations.
